The second annual Newark Blues Festival will take place over the weekend of Friday 10th – Sunday 12th September 2010.
Upwards of twenty-five bands will be playing over the weekend at venues around Newark.
In addition to the venues there will also be a series of events hosted in the grounds of Newark Castle on Saturday 11th September and Sunday 12th September.
Blues at the Castle, featuring four top UK blues artists takes place on Saturday 11th September 2010 with the first band taking to the stage at 5:30pm.
This year Blues at the Castle will play host to the first ever British Blues Awards, organised by Nottingham Blues Society.
The only British artist to be featured in Classic Rocks 2007 review TOP 10 CONTEMPORARY BLUES ARTISTS, alongside The White Stripes, The Black Keys, John Mayer, Jon Spencer, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Bonamassa, Derek Trucks and the North Mississippi Allstars.
Sean Webster Band
A regular on the European festival scene, Sean has gained rave reviews for both his live and recorded work receiving comments such as Sean is a new legend in the making. He has rich powerful vocals and searing guitar licks.
Kevin Thorpe’s Tipping Point
Tipping Point is the latest band to feature former Out of the Blue front man Kevin Thorpe. In the words of Nottingham Blues Society, Kevins back and at his best, as for Dominic, one helluva guitarist.
Virgil and the Accelerators
Fronted by eighteen year old guitar sensation Virgil McMahon. For such a young band the playing was as intuitive as it was spell binding. – getreadytorock.com.
However, it’s not just about Blues at the Castle, as over the weekend you can catch other top blues acts such as The Mustangs, Chantel McGregor, Wilson T King, the Ron Sayer Band and more, all on the main stage with no admission charges.
